Daniyal Strikes Gold at London Academy
Stanmore Table Tennis Club is delighted to announce the outstanding success of Daniyal, who won gold in the Under 11s category at the London Academy Table Tennis Tournament on Sunday, 28th September.
Daniyal entered the event as top seed and lived up to his ranking in brilliant style, going unbeaten throughout the tournament and demonstrating superb focus, consistency, and determination from start to finish.
He began the morning session in excellent form, winning all five of his matches in straight sets. Daniyal produced confident and composed performances against Harry Whitmore, Zayn Jetha, Ayansh Pahwa, and David Cuirea, setting himself up perfectly for the tougher afternoon stage.
In the afternoon, Daniyal moved into Band 1, where he faced four strong opponents. His first match was against Oscar Todhunter, a familiar rival whom he had previously beaten 3–2 at the Mark Bates National Championships in April. Once again, their meeting proved to be a thrilling encounter. Daniyal took the first set 11–3, lost the next two 10–12 and 3–11, but showed tremendous composure and fighting spirit to win the fourth 11–6 and the final decider 11–8. It was a superb comeback and a real test of character.
That victory gave Daniyal great momentum, and he went on to win his remaining three matches — against Kiasha Behesti, Nathan Bloom, and Noah Clarke — all in straight sets (3–0). His control, focus, and determination never wavered, and he finished the day unbeaten to secure the Under 11s gold medal.
This was a truly outstanding performance from Daniyal, who continues to impress with his attitude, consistency, and competitiveness. Everyone at Stanmore Table Tennis Club is incredibly proud of his achievements and delighted to see his hard work in training pay off.
Well done, Daniyal! A brilliant result and another fantastic step forward in your table tennis journey — we can’t wait to see what’s next.
