FRANKIE & DANIYAL SHINE AT WOODFORD WELLS

Congratulations to Frankie and Daniyal, who both competed in the Woodford Wells Under-19s Tournament at the weekend, playing well above their age group against older and more experienced opponents.
Frankie, aged just 14, was the standout performer of the day. He began the tournament superbly, winning two of his three group matches. Frankie recorded excellent victories over Ismael Ali and Max Reeves, and narrowly lost to the No. 3 seed, Dhruv Datta, in a highly competitive match. These results saw him comfortably progress into the main draw.
In the knockout stages, Frankie faced William Evesham, a tricky long-pimples player. Showing great tactical awareness and composure, Frankie managed the match well and secured the win. He then moved on to face Wilson Hunt, an opponent Frankie had previously lost to in the National Junior League. This time, however, Frankie was in complete control, producing a dominant 3–0 victory to reach the final.
The final saw Frankie take on the top seed, Shalen Auckloo. Against a very strong short-pimples opponent, Frankie played outstanding table tennis, showing maturity beyond his years and competing at an exceptionally high level. Although he narrowly lost the final, reaching the final of an Under-19s event at just 14 years old is an incredible achievement. Frankie played with confidence, intelligence, and belief throughout the day, and Stanmore could not be prouder.
Daniyal, just 10 years old, also competed in the Under-19s draw. After winning one of his three group matches, Daniyal moved into the consolation event where he showed immense character and determination. Disappointed with his morning performance, he responded in the best possible way.
Daniyal began the consolation draw against Ismael Ali and produced an outstanding 3–0 win, setting the tone for the rest of the event. He followed this up with another convincing 3–0 victory against Daniya Elfallah, once again demonstrating maturity, control, and confidence well beyond his years. In the final, Daniyal faced Abiram Chandramohan and completed a clean sweep, winning 3–0 and not dropping a single set throughout the entire consolation draw.
To perform with such composure and dominance against much older opponents at the age of 10 is truly remarkable and reflects Daniyal’s dedication and growing strength as a competitor.
Stanmore is incredibly proud of both Frankie and Daniyal. At just 14 and 10 years old, their performances clearly show that age is no barrier to success. Passion, determination, resilience, and hard work are what truly matter, and both boys have demonstrated these qualities in abundance over recent weeks. A fantastic achievement from two very talented young players — well done to them both.
