Leagues We Play

At Stanmore Table Tennis Club, competitive league play is a key part of our club’s identity. We proudly enter teams into both the Harrow & Wembley Table Tennis League and the Barnet League—two of the most well-regarded leagues in the region. These leagues provide structured, exciting opportunities for players to test themselves against a variety of opponents in a formal match setting.

What makes our league participation so accessible is the range of divisions across both leagues. This means players of all skill levels—from juniors just transitioning from coaching sessions to seasoned adult competitors—can find a team that suits their ability and supports their growth. We take care to place each member in a team where the level of play offers the right mix of challenge and opportunity.

Our focus isn’t just on winning—it’s about gaining experience, learning to manage match pressure, and steadily improving. Every game is a chance to grow, and we ensure that players are supported throughout their league journey. With the right placement and ongoing encouragement, league play becomes not only competitive but also an incredibly enjoyable part of being in the club.

League Schedule and Venues Information

The league season usually runs from September to April, following a traditional home-and-away format. Matches typically take place on Tuesday evenings, starting at 7.30pm and finishing by around 10.30pm. Some fixtures are held at our home venue—Stanmore Park Community Centre—while others require travel to local clubs for away games. We encourage all selected players to be available for both home and away fixtures to ensure team consistency throughout the season.

Beyond simply playing matches, our league players benefit from a strong support structure at the club. Our coaching programme runs in parallel with the league season, helping players to refine their technique, improve tactical thinking, and build the mental resilience needed for competition. This dual approach—coaching and match play—forms the backbone of our development philosophy.

Participating in a league team offers more than just a place on a roster. It’s a chance to bond with teammates, share experiences, and be part of something bigger. Whether you’re chasing league titles or simply looking to improve, the club creates an environment where everyone feels supported and motivated. The mix of structure, team spirit, and genuine passion for the game makes league play one of the most rewarding aspects of Stanmore Table Tennis Club.

Joel from Stanmore Table Tennis club has been delivering regular coaching at Park High School and this has led to a number of students from Park High being involved with the club. They have absolutely loved it. Their passion for the sport has grown and they have dedicated any spare time they have to practicing the skills and techniques they have been taught. They proudly represent their school and their club. This experience has truly given them a gift that will stay with them well beyond their school years. It has been a pleasure to witness the impact that Joel and Stanmore has had on those students who have become involved with the club.

We’ve had a fantastic experience at Stanmore Tennis Club. The facilities are excellent, and the environment is welcoming and well-run. Coach Joel has not only helped my son improve his skills, technique, and confidence—he’s truly fuelled his passion for table tennis. Joel is patient, encouraging, and brings out the best in young players. A mention also to Barry, who keeps everything running smoothly. My son looks forward to every session. Highly recommend this club for anyone looking for quality coaching and a supportive atmosphere.

Our son (now 12 years of age) has been going for just under a year and half to this club after coming from another where he was not really progressing. Joel, Barry, Joel’s son have been fantastic and committed to making sure everyone is reaching their potential and thus our sons game has improved significantly in a short space of time and is taking part in a lot more competitions and achieving results. We cannot be more delighted with the club. V. Desai

My son has thrived being part of the wonderful Stanmore Table Tennis Club. Under Barry’s leadership and Joel’s coaching he now represents the club at national tournaments which has been amazing to see. It is great to see all ages mixing at the club playing together, there is a real family feel to the club and it has become his second home!

Truly grateful for the positive impact Joel’s TT coaching has had on our child through the club. The sessions have been both engaging and skill-building, offering a fun and supportive environment for development—not just in sports, but in confidence, teamwork, and discipline. The club has a profoundly valuable impact on nurturing local children and providing a safe, enriching space for them to grow and thrive. The activity has become an important and confidence-boosting part of our child’s routine. It is an invaluable asset to the wider community, and we sincerely hope it continues to help children develop the skills they aim for. Thanks to your dedication and professionalism, we fully support your efforts and hope many more young people get the chance to benefit from this incredible program.
