London Youth Games Success
We’re delighted to share that two of our Stanmore Table Tennis Club players, Dev and Sayan, represented Barnet at this year’s London Youth Games, held at the Jean Brown Indoor Arena in Redbridge on 15th June 2024 — and came away with a bronze medal in the Under 16s category.
The London Youth Games is one of the largest and most competitive youth sporting events in Europe, bringing together over 30 London boroughs to compete across a range of sports. To finish in the top three in table tennis is a huge achievement, especially considering the calibre of talent across London.
Dev and Sayan, both regulars at Stanmore TTC, played a key role throughout the day in the singles and doubles formats. Each match presented a different challenge, but the boys stayed calm and focused, showing smart shot selection, strong movement, and great team chemistry during their doubles play. They both handled the pressure with maturity and competed with real heart.
Their results helped secure enough points for Barnet to claim 3rd place overall, a fantastic accomplishment in a tough field. To medal at an event of this scale is no small feat and is testament to the hard work they’ve been putting in at training and in competition throughout the year.
We’re proud to see Dev and Sayan continuing to grow as players and representing the club so well in major events. These experiences will no doubt serve them well as they take on bigger challenges in the months ahead.
Well done, boys – your efforts were outstanding, and you did both Barnet and Stanmore TTC proud!
