Training Camp with Craig Bryant
Stanmore Table Tennis Club was proud to host its first-ever national-level training camp, an enriching weekend designed for our juniors competing in top-level competitions across the country. The camp was organised by Head Coach Joel Fernandes and led by renowned national coach Craig Bryant, who brought a wealth of experience and energy to the sessions.
This camp was tailored for players who represent Stanmore TTC in National Cadet and Junior League events, as well as those selected for the Middlesex County teams, where Joel also plays a key coaching role. The aim of the camp was to provide a focused, performance-driven environment to help our players raise their game both physically and mentally.
Across the weekend, players worked on service and service return, matchplay tactics, and other fine-tuned technical areas that are essential at the national level. Craig brought structure, intensity and clarity to every drill. His ability to break down technique while also encouraging creative play was exactly what our juniors needed.
But it wasn’t just about technique. One of the standout elements of the camp was Craig’s session on developing a champion’s mindset – guiding players on how to manage tough match moments, build resilience, and stay mentally strong under pressure. These are the traits that define top-level competitors, and our players listened, absorbed, and responded brilliantly.
The atmosphere was buzzing across all sessions – a mix of hard work, focus, and enjoyment. It was clear from the start that the players were ready to learn and push their limits. The camp has already had an impact, with players showing a renewed hunger and confidence in their regular training sessions.
A massive thank you to Craig Bryant for leading such a high-quality camp and to Joel Fernandes for organising the weekend. This was a huge step forward in the club’s ongoing commitment to player development – and we’re just getting started
