U11 London Academy Success
A big well done to Daniyal, Rohan, and Riki from Stanmore Table Tennis Club, who all took part in the Under 11s event at the London Academy 2 Star Tournament in Edgware on Sunday 27th October 2024. All three players competed brilliantly, each making it into Band 2, with Daniyal finishing 2nd, Rohan in 3rd, and Riki in 5th. It was another fantastic day of competition and a proud showing for the club.
What makes Daniyal’s performance even more impressive is that this was his second tournament in two days, having competed in a 4 Star event in Cleveland just the day before. Despite the back-to-back competition, he showed excellent energy and focus throughout the day. In the morning session, Daniyal picked up solid wins over Luca Turner, Iliona Kola, and Rea Kola, finishing second in his group and qualifying for Band 2. In the afternoon, he continued his strong form, with wins against Riki Shah, Rohan Gadhia, and Odysseas Karaasev to secure 2nd place and take home the silver medal.
Rohan also had a great tournament. In the morning, he claimed wins over Daniel Bordalo, Darcey Parker, and Noah Godfrey, which was enough to take him into Band 2 as group runner-up. In the afternoon session, he kept the momentum going, beating both Riki Shah and Odysseas Karaasev to finish in 3rd place, earning a bronze medal and continuing his consistent progress.
Riki had a strong morning as well, with wins over Sanav Sethi and Luca Bordalo, placing second in his group. While the afternoon was tougher, Riki still played well and showed good fight, finishing 5th in Band 2 – a strong effort in a competitive field.
Another great outing for Stanmore TTC – three players, three medals, and lots of positives to take forward. Well done boys!
