U19 Success at London Academy
We were pleased to see Josh deliver another strong performance for Stanmore Table Tennis Club at the London Academy 2 Star Tournament, held in Edgware on 13th July 2024. Competing in the Under 19s Band 2, Josh finished in 2nd place, continuing his run of consistent results on the national circuit.
Across both the morning and afternoon sessions, Josh played a total of eight matches, winning five of them. His victories came against a number of solid opponents, including Ilyes Djeraoui, Lewis MacSween, Omar Faruqe Mohammad Wasi, Bing Lin, and Lukas Keys. Each match tested different aspects of his game, and Josh showed good focus and adaptability throughout.
The 2 Star events are always highly competitive, and the standard of play at London Academy was no exception. Josh competed well across the board and stayed composed in tight situations. His ability to bounce back from close sets and maintain momentum between rounds was particularly important, especially given the long day of play.
Finishing 2nd in Band 2 is a commendable result and reflects the progress Josh has been making this season. His tactical game is continuing to mature, and we’ve seen increased consistency in his play, particularly in how he manages matches under pressure. Each tournament adds valuable experience, and Josh continues to demonstrate that he belongs among the top young players competing regularly in these events.
This result adds to a strong body of performances this year and provides another good platform for further progress. We’re pleased to see the work Josh is putting in translating to solid results at tournament level.
Well done once again — a great effort and a result to be proud of.
