Wembley & Harrow Singles Win
A big congratulations to Rishi, who finished runner-up in the Junior Singles Under 15s at the Wembley & Harrow Closed Table Tennis Championships held on 2nd March 2024 at Salvatorian College in Harrow Wealdstone.
The Under 15s singles event is always one of the most competitive categories, and this year was no different. Rishi came into the tournament well prepared, showing confidence, focus, and a great attitude from the very first match. Throughout the day, he demonstrated why he’s considered one of the rising stars at Stanmore Table Tennis Club.
In the group stages, Rishi was sharp and composed. He played with intelligence, mixing controlled rallies with decisive attacking play. His consistency helped him comfortably progress into the knockout rounds, where the pressure increased and the matches became tighter.
During the quarter-finals and semi-finals, Rishi showed his trademark determination and tactical strength. He remained cool under pressure and didn’t let close sets shake his concentration. His footwork and ball placement were spot-on, helping him secure his place in the final.
The final match was a tightly contested battle against a tough opponent. Both players had their moments, but despite Rishi’s best efforts, it wasn’t to be this time. He had to settle for second place on the day, but it was still a hugely commendable performance from start to finish.
To finish as runner-up in the Under 15s at one of the most important local tournaments of the year is something to be proud of. Rishi continues to go from strength to strength, and this result is yet another step forward in his journey as a player.
Well done Rishi – a fantastic performance and a well-deserved silver medal!
