Stanmore Table Tennis Club is celebrating another fantastic tournament performance, this time from our tenacious young player, Daniyal Janmohamed.

Playing in the Under-13 category for the very first time at the London Academy 2-Star Tournament, the 11-year-old showcased the true spirit of a competitor by successfully navigating his way through a tough group stage.

Daniyal's true test came during a heart-stopping quarter-final match. Struggling to find his rhythm early on, he found himself trailing 2-0 in sets and playing well below his best. Refusing to back down, he mounted a brilliant tactical and mental fightback to level the match at 2-2. The drama peaked in the final-set decider, where Daniyal faced a daunting deficit, falling 10-8 down and staring match point in the face. Showing extraordinary grit and composure, he saved the match points and clawed his way back to secure a sensational 14-12 victory, sealing one of the most memorable comebacks of the tournament.

Carrying that momentum further, Daniyal continued to dazzle as he made the semi-finals, narrowly missing out on the final. He raced to a 2-0 lead in sets and held a match point at 10-9 in the third. Though victory was tantalisingly close, momentum shifted, and despite a valiant effort, he fell 3-2 in a tightly contested battle.

To reach the semi-finals of an Under-13 event at just 11 years old—and to display such remarkable fighting spirit along the way—is an incredible achievement. Everyone at Stanmore Table Tennis Club is immensely proud of Daniyal's resilience, hard work, and bright future on the table. Well done, Daniyal!
