Josh Fernandes Stars in Schools Team Final

Stanmore Table Tennis Club is proud of Josh Fernandes, after helping his school reach the final of the Jack Petchey London Schools Team Finals.
Josh and his team had to fight all the way just to reach the final. Facing tough opposition, they were never behind in the tie but were repeatedly pulled back level. The match eventually finished 4 4, with Josh's team edging through on sets difference to book their place in the showpiece final.
The final itself was a gripping contest from start to finish. Josh's school made the perfect start, moving into an early lead, only for the opposition to hit back with three wins in a row to turn the tie around.
That was when Josh dug deep. After a tough opening defeat, he came back to win a tense three set battle later in the match, helping to bring his team right back into contention and level the tie at 4-4 overall.
With the scores tied, the result came down to the total number of sets won across the whole match, and in the end Josh's team were edged out by the narrowest of margins, finishing as runners up in a final that could easily have gone either way.
It was a fantastic effort from the whole team, and Josh's fighting spirit under pressure once again stood out. To reach a London finals and push all the way to a countback decider is a brilliant achievement, and everyone at Stanmore is extremely proud of what Josh has helped his school accomplish.
Well done Josh, keep up the great work.
