Stanmore Girls Shine at Cadets British Clubs League

A truly special day for Stanmore Table Tennis Club, as our girls teams took to the table for the very first time at the inaugural Cadets Girls British Clubs League, and came away with medals across the board.
It has always been an ambition of the club to build an all girls team, and in our very first season, that dream has been realised in style.
Headed by Penny Muil and Jessie Daniel, Stanmore A were simply outstanding, winning every one of their three matches without dropping a tie. They beat Ashford 4 1, followed this up with a 4 1 win over Greenhouse Girls 1, and finished the job with a dominant 5 0 win over Ellenborough. An unbeaten run saw the team crowned champions of Division 1, taking home the gold medal in thoroughly deserved fashion.
Not to be outdone, Stanmore B, led by Dhanishka Gohil and Skye Fernandes, put in a brilliant effort of their own. They edged out Ellenborough B 3 2, saw off TJS Girls 2 with a 4 1 win, and completed a fantastic set of results with a 4 1 win over clubmates Stanmore C. That run of results was enough to secure the Division 2 title and another gold medal for the club.
Also a special mention also goes to Stanmore C, featuring Delina Shavadia and Lily Kennedy. Both players battled hard throughout the competition, helping their team to a very respectable 4th place finish in Division 2.
Well done to every single player who represented Stanmore Girls at this inaugural event. To come away with gold medals in both divisions, in the very first season of our girls programme, is an incredible achievement and a proud moment for the whole club.
What started as an ambition to give girls at Stanmore a team of their own has turned into a medal winning success story from day one, and we cannot wait to see this team continue to grow.
